Once our 50m range has an extended roof, completed targetry etc we will progress with our promised Sydney Members’ Rifle Club.

Yes it does mean that a member of Sydney Pistol Club may use the premises to sight in their rimfire .22 or Air Rifle (.177) and have informal matches on scheduled, supervised days.

We are first and always a Pistol Club. The rifle club will only be for Sydney PC members for their convenience. We are required to register a separate entity with Firearms Registry to enable this to occur.

It will be trialled and if there are any problems with uncased firearms being carried from car to Club and 50m range there will be an immediate cessation of longarm activities.

Obviously because of the shared use of the car park and the proximity of the range to the semi public road we must be extra vigilant as to the perception of our shooting sports by uninformed persons becoming alarmed at the very sight of a rifle. Pistols are small, kept in a case and in our 56 years we’ve never had a problem.

It also means that if you do not require a hunting endorsement on your shooting licence, Sydney Pistol Club via the rifle ‘Club’ will enable Pistol members pay one fee. This combined fee will be more than is charged for Pistol membership only but will be much less than paying two affiliations.

Commencement will be notified via this web page and notices posted at the Club.
