No ISSF Quota Places at ISSF World Cups during 2010

Although there has been no formal notification on the ISSF website, there will be no allocation during 2010 of Quota Places for the 2012 Olympics, London.  Already, the National Rifle Association of India has withdrawn the World Cup, Delhi that had been scheduled for March 2010 (ISSF calendar>>)

At this stage, there is no information regarding the distribution of Quota Places for London 2012 in ISSF Rules>> Annex Q – Special Regulations for the Participation in the Shooting Sport Events of the Olympic Games; though by inference, all Quota Places will be available during 2011-2012.

2010 Commonwealth Shooting Federation Championships

The construction of the new range facilities for the shooting events at the Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games continues.  Latest word from India is that the targetry will be installed in November this year with completion in December and the range will be ‘up and running’ for the CSF Championships in February 2010.

2012 Olympics shooting to stay at Woolwich

Despite considerable speculation, the National Shooting Centre in Bisley will not be a possible alternative site the London 2010 Organisers  London 2012 press release>>.

The background to this is:

·         The military seems unenthusiastic to have their grounds chewed up

·         GBR shooting organisations are unenthusiastic that a temporary shooting venue will be constructed for 2012 Olympics with (probably) ALL the venue, including the range facilities, to be rented, then dismantled and disbursed elsewhere (outside the UK).

ISSF events at the Cessnock Nationals

X-ring count

This procedure was introduced with very little consternation:

·         Existing score cards were used without modification

·         For the 50M and 25M events scoring was no slower than at previous Nationals

·         For 10M events a procedure>> was developed to cope with the lack of Inner-10 recording on the Rika machines

·         OpenW has been updated to cope with the 2009 tie-breaking rules

Cameron Scoring procedure

This was used and accepted by the competitors

10M – MAP, WAP, ISCD, JMAP, JWAP

Despite the occasional ‘glitch’ (a broken winder cord, targets slipping in the target holders, etc.) this ran well.  Cessnock will be expanding their 10M range capacity in the near future.

25M – Standard, Womens, Junior, CF, JCF, ISCD, RFP, JRFP

The extra 25M range section made all the difference

50M – Mixed, ISCD

The extra 50M range section has effectively doubled the 50M range capacity

Range Incident Reports

Almost all ROs completed a Range Incident Report at the completion of each relay.  These reports are the only way the Classification Office has of knowing that there have been any ‘problems’ that affect the scores, and are essential.

Range Preparation

Congratulations to Cessnock PC: despite the rotten weather in the area for the week or so before the Practice Day the range was generally magnificent.  If they had experienced even a few days of reasonable weather in that preceding week the finishing touches to the down-range would have been completed.

Food – great!

Attitude and cooperation – great!
